Balaton Sound is as the name says already not taking place in Budapest but it is very popular among people in Budapest, since Zamardi at Lake Balaton is only 1 hour away from the capital of Hungary. So Balaton Sound takes place in this small village called Zamardi which during summer time is a popular place to stay at Lake Balaton, in the winter time there is basically nothing. Once a year when the festival arrives thousands of people come to the viallage to celebrate and dance to electronical music from DJs all over the world such as David Guetta, Paul Kalkbrenner or Sven Väth.
The Balaton Sound is a festival with house music only which makes it different from the Sziget Festival or the Volt Festival where mainly Rock music is played. Nevertheless Balaton Sound became very popular over the years, not only for people from Lake Balaton or Budapest but from all over Europe party animals are coming to celebrate right next to Lake Balaton.
That is actually the special thing about Balaton Sound that on the shore of Balaton you have the tents and stages rowed up and the sound is blasted all over the lake. You can sit in the water, have a drink or two and listen to finest house music while taking a sun bath watching beautiful girls swimming in their bikini in the lake. At night most people go to the stages and tents to party hard till late night or rather early morning.
As the festival takes one long weekend most people take an accommodation such as holiday houses, apartments or sleep in the hotel. Many people also camp on the festival sight which is quite popular. If you don’t get any accommodation in Zamárdi than you should try it in one of the next villages or in Siofok which is bigger and you can easier find a place to sleep.
